ActivismActivism is what we do. We cannot stand by and choose not to act, knowing the richness of this Earth is in such jeopardy. It is governments and politics that shape the future. We seek to persuade them to change, or not to change, the laws or strategies that affect Nature’s chances of survival. It is shortsighted, vested interests that have such pervasive and disproportionate power over government policies on Nature. We seek to counteract this in favour of the ‘public interest’. Or else we engage with industries willing to build trust and to seek real long-term solutions. It is people that elect governments who have the ultimate power to change the future. We work to empower the community with tools and information that can make all the difference. We mobilise people when governments will not listen. We help as many as we can to experience nature or to help build the forests of the future, because nature anchors, inspires and rekindles a sense of purpose and meaning that fuels our passion to help it. Margaret Mead, American cultural anthropologist (1901–1978) once said: Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. We agree. We have the courage to speak the truth, no matter the cost. We are not discouraged by what at times may seem insurmountable odds. Our motto is “Never say never”. It keeps our vision alive. This web site, now and as it develops, together with all the links that social media opens to us, will help us share and build knowledge, and work together towards a safer future in this fast- and ever-changing world.
